Chinese Interpretation is
often misunderstood as synonymous to Chinese translation. But the two things
are different from each other, as Chinese translation deals with written
aspect, whereas Chinese
interpretation deals with verbal aspect. But as far as bridging the communication
gap is concerned both are equally useful.
Chinese, a member of
Sino-Tibetan family of languages is spoken by about one –fifth of the world’s
population. As China has become a rising power in the global market, Chinese
language has also become equally powerful and widely spoken. This has opened up
better career opportunities for Chinese interpreters. Usually the job of a professional Chinese interpreter is to
interpret the speaker’s language into Chinese. He facilitates effective
communication between two parties. As the process if interpretation
involves listening to, understanding and memorizing the concept and then
reproducing the statement, questions and speeches into Chinese the Chinese
interpreters need to be native speakers of Chinese and second language learners
of the source language.
Due to the growing
importance of Chinese language, Chinese interpretation services have become quite essential to bridge the communication gap
between a Chinese speaker and non-Chinese speaker. Chinese interpretation
services include both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. Courtroom
proceedings are examples of simultaneous interpretation while conferences and
political meetings generally, are the examples of consecutive interpretation.
Besides that Chinese interpretation services also include telephone and escort
interpretation.
Like Chinese
interpretation, Chinese language translation is equally useful to facilitate
effective communication between two parties. Chinese language translation is
not a mere transportation of words from another language to Chinese. Rather it
involves a much complex process which should exclusively be done by a good
Chinese language translator. Chinese language
translation has become a lucrative in India as many Indian universities are
offering Chinese language in undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate level.
Besides that in India the Chinese language translators are of huge demand as both India and China are involved with
many kinds of business and diplomatic allies. To make this corporate and
diplomatic process smoother the need of Chinese language translation is widely felt in India.
No matter whatever he/she
might be, either a Chinese interpreter or a Chinese language translator,
ideally he/she has to be a native speaker of Chinese and a second language
learner of the source language. This ensures accuracy of both Chinese
translation and interpretation. The motto of the interpreters or the
translators is to help their clients speak and understand the local Chinese
language (both Mandarin and Cantonese). As interpretation and translation are
strong tools of communication it is a requirement of not only big corporate but
also small sector business houses and individuals can also get benefit by using
these communication tools. Hence, the presence of Chinese language interpreters
and Chinese language translators help both India and China to
participate in healthy interaction towards growth and prosperity.
